Why I need a GPS

So I try to avoid posting too much crap on the blog that really doesn't belong there (All my Star Wars crap, etc.) but I've found a new reason to get a GPS

(Be sure to stay till the end as there is a great musical moment in the last 10 secs)

I can say this: I know what I want for Christmas.

Holidays

So Christmas has come and gone, as has New Years. To everyone who we weren't able to talk to - hope you had a great holiday. To everyone who sent us cards and gifts- thank you very much. Sorry that we didn't get a ard out- after some discussion we just never made it happen. So is our life. Best of intentions, worst of executions. Just ask our neice and nephew whom received Birthdays and Christmas at the same time (fine and all except that their birthdays are in the summer). Anywho, we're diong fine, working hard and hope to post some pictures soon.

Christmas comes but twice a year

Right now is one of those moments I wish I had a camera. See, a couple days ago I had to call EA to get a replacement guitar sent out for Rockband (mine had started to act funny). It was a painless process (a true first in customer service). I was told there are two options 1) Have them send me a box, send my guitar, wait for them to get said guitar, wait for a replacement to be sent to me, or 2) Have them send me a guitar in a box, and then send mine back to them (free- but I had to have them place a hold on my card). Wow, choices... OR NOT! Umm I'll have you ship the guitar so I can at least always have a guitar with me. So here I am today 48 hours later and voila! I have a guitar in my hands. WOW 48 hours to ship and get to me from Michigan. Not bad...not bad at all. I'm well over impressed with the service I received. I wish ALL customer service was this efficient. Too bad I'm now spoiled. Thanks EA, you set the bar extra high on this one. Now to everyone else out there- you better shape up, cause I know it's possible to get great service, even from a huge company.
So why the camera in the beginning- simple- I have a guitar at my desk in lab. Who doesn't think that truly is a great photo op?

Christmas in San Diego

Okay...so Christmas in San Diego is not quite the same as it is in Utah. For one, there's no snow. But we've been able to start some traditions of our own, being here for the second year in a row without family. So yesterday I baked. I made some awesome sugar cookies. I'm a sucker for soft cookies and I found a recipe last year that puts every other sugar cookie recipe to shame. Anyway...we had Jason and Elise over to play some Wii and gratefully, Elise helped me to decorate the million and a half cookies I baked.

Last year, we finally got our own real sized Christmas tree. Last year we were fortunate enough to have my parents here to decorate it with us, but this year it was up to us, and so naturally, it took a little longer. But Chris's parents this year got us a tree skirt to match our Mickey and Minnie stocking we got last year. Here are some pictures of our final tree this year:
